Our next vendor Q&A spotlight for the Pop-Up Party! event on June 22nd is Honey Bee Bakehouse! Melissa of Honey Bee Bakehouse serves up delicious treats, such as wedding cookies, baby cakes, and cookies at local pop-ups and through special orders, using Fair Trade and palm oil free ingredients.
Here is what Melissa had to say:
What’s the story with your pop-up/business? What inspired you?
I've always wanted to own my own cafe/bakery/community center. Approaching 30 and motherhood gave me the push that I should, need, to start getting myself out there. I don’t want to be all talk and I want to set an example for my daughter that your dreams are worth working for.
Where do you see this going? What’s the dream?
My goal with Honey Bee Bakehouse is to get into wholesale and eventually start a cafe/community spot (under a different name) where I would hire/train felons convicted of nonviolent crimes, have classes that empower the community, support local businesses/artists and just have an overall a safe space for minorities and allies to hang out.
Where do you like to go out to eat in the Portland area these days?
So, what are you planning to make for June 22nd’s “Pop-Up Party!” crowd?!
