Thanks again to everyone who came out on a crisp autumn evening to our first vegan cookbook club on October 26th!
It’s definitely a bonding experience to find other folks who are just as happy to get-together and nerd out over vegan food on a Friday night, gosh.
There was seriously amazing food, shared potluck-style by our attendees, and even better conversations – all about the recipes we’d chosen to make (or not!) from the beautiful Minimalist Baker cookbook: Everyday Cooking, our meal planning techniques, where we like to get cozy with a cookbook – and any and everything in between.
At the end of the night, with our bellies comfortably full of (really) good food and warm homemade hot cocoa, we unanimously voted on our next featured cookbook: Veganomicon by the great Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero. I mean, who can resist a reason to pick up V’con!
Fun fact: Did you know that Isa hosted the very first two VEGAN IRON CHEF competitions here in Portland, aka our nonprofit’s origin stories? Here’s an OPB piece about our 2011 namesake cook-off.
Save the date for our next Vegan Cookbook Club:
Saturday, January 19th 6pm, location TBA (likely the same place in SE Portland, but we’re certainly open to other suggestions for locales and future books!)
We even have a hashtag, so feel free to use #pdxvegancookbookclub if you’re sharing on social mediaz while trying out dishes from Isa + Terry’s epic cookbook leading up that night! <3
